Pescadores del desierto
Pescadores del desierto explores the deep historical ties between the Canary Islands and the coast of Mauritania through the Imraguen, a fishing community that still sails the Banc d’Arguin using lateen-rigged boats inherited from the Canarian fishing tradition. Through these boats, fishing techniques and words that have survived across the Atlantic, the documentary reconstructs a shared history between the Canary Islands and Africa and recovers the memory of Canarian fishermen who once worked these waters.
